Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. Telehealth, or virtual sessions, are where we meet through audio and video via the internet using secure, HIPAA-compliant technologies. It differs from traditional in-person sessions in that we are each in separate physical locations rather than sitting together in my office. At this time, I run a hybrid practice (in-person/telehealth).

How do I make an appointment?

Email me at therapy@dorcasnung.com to find what my availability is and to schedule an appointment. I will set up a time to speak with you in a short phone consultation (15 minutes). At that time, I usually ask some questions about what brings to you me. Because my services are highly personalized, I work with you to figure out if we’re a fit.

What do I need to do before my first appointment?

Once we have scheduled an appointment, you will receive a link that will take you to my practice documents through SimplePractice where you will review and complete required paperwork. If you are using insurance, you should also contact your insurance company regarding your coverage (see below), including whether telehealth is a covered benefit if we are doing virtual sessions.

What do I need to bring to my first appointment?

Once you have completed all forms electronically, you will only need to bring yourself and any questions you may have to your first appointment.

What insurance
plans do you accept?

I will be an out-of-network provider for Premera and its affiliates as of March 16, 2024, and for Regence as of June 1, 2024. I am already an out-of-network provider for all other insurance companies.

If your plan allows you to go out of network, you will pay for sessions on the date of service. I can then provide you with a “superbill” which you will submit with any other required forms to your insurance provider for reimbursement as allowable through your specific plan. You will need to contact your plan to find out if you have out of network benefits and if so, what those benefits cover.

What are your fees and why should I think of them as an investment?

When you address your mental well being by engaging in therapeutic services with me, you are investing in your own healing. In turn, this contributes to the well being of your entire family. This is because what impacts one family member impacts all:

Initial Assessment: $200
Individual Therapy Sessions: $165 (50-minute session)
Family Sessions: $165 (50-minute session)
Parent Consultation: $165 (50-minute session).

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept personal checks, debit/HSA cards, cash, and major credit cards including MasterCard, Discover, American Express and Visa.

How does the first appointment work if it is my child who is being seen?

I typically meet with parents first without the child present. This allows parents to freely and privately express concerns about what is going on within the family and with the child. There are some exceptions, such as when I am seeing a teen who is consenting to his or her own treatment.

Where are you located?

I am located in downtown Bellingham at 115 W. Magnolia Street, Suite 209. The closest cross street is Commercial Street, and there is metered street parking nearby. I also have a secure “virtual office” through SimplePractice where I see clients for telehealth services online.
