Philosophy

If you, your child, or your family need support, let me help you.

I specialize in “growing great kids and healthy families.” This means that I work with young children and adolescents, individual adults and families to improve their relationships and reach their fullest potential.

There are a number of ways to do this. My work with children and families may involve dyadic (parent-child), individual, and family sessions. I take a developmental, holistic, and family-centered approach, starting with the positives to build on areas of strength and resiliency.

Through coaching, I have helped many parents at wits’ end to enjoy improved communication and connection with their children and teens. This results in children who are more able to listen and behave.

My work with individual adults embraces the belief that our earliest relationships shape who we are and how we relate to others. When we are stressed, overwhelmed, or anxious, we may revert to old patterns of relating -- patterns so old that they reach back to our very beginnings.

Therapy with adult clients may explore issues related to early childhood experiences, allowing them to be addressed so that they no longer “haunt” or “trigger” us. This work is especially valuable if you are preparing to become a parent or are struggling with parenting issues.

By looking at our own childhood issues and working through them to a place of strength and understanding, we not only become better people; we have the chance to become better parents to our children.
